Ramon Stegmann and his Amazonian dramaturgy

Abstract

This article will deal with the playwright from Pará Ramon Stergmann (1943-2008). Through
excerpts from his work and a brief biography, we intend to present this author and the way he approached
the Amazonian man and his culture in his plays, specifically, in the theater produced by him in Belém do
Pará in the 70s, 80s and 90s of the twentieth century. Thus, the study will advance by exchanging historical
questions, from the writings of Salles (1994) and his notes on theater in Pará; cultural, from the perspectives
of Loureiro (2000) and Souza (2005), about the Amazonian culture; and dramaturgical, through the
contributions of Pallottini (1988), Pavis (2008) and Freitas (2017), among other authors, thus highlighting
the dramaturgical writing of Ramon Stergmann, based on what he experienced/learned of his reality as a
man and artist who lived his time intensely.
