Needle fracture with displacement to the jugular foramen: case report

Objective: To report a case of needle fracture during local anesthesia, high-lighting the diagnostic methods, therapeutic approach, and follow-up. Case report: A 29-year-old male patient complained of pain during swallowing after third molar extraction, with a history of anesthetic needle fracture. A facial tomography scan showed the fragment in the parapharyngeal space, later migrating to the jugular foramen region. The patient was referred to neurosur fractures, although rare, can cause severe complications. Imaging diagnosis and adequate surgical planning are essential for the safe management of these casesgery, where an unsuccessful attempt at surgical removal was made. He is currently undergoing clinical follow-up with annual exams. Conclusion: Needle fractures, although rare, can cause severe complications.
