Objective: To describe the process of creating an infographic on basic care that patients should take before a dental surgical procedure. Methodology: This is research into the development of assistance technology designed in an objective and applicable way, using as a reference the literature and the clinical experiences of students and teachers in the dental surgery clinics of a Federal University. The development of the material followed the stages of planning, construction, presentation and implementation. The infographic was created using the online platform Canva®. Results: An infographic providing guidance for patients before dental surgery was produced, covering points such as balanced nutrition, documentation, complementary exams, the importance of a companion, medications for continuous use and systemic comorbidities. Conclusion: The infographic proved to be a relevant and interesting resource for applying the concepts of health education in Dentistry. However, there is a demand for future studies and projects that solidify the effectiveness of these mechanisms aiming at a viable, safe and preventive clinical practice during dental surgeries.
