Objective: To evaluate the use of anxiety management protocols by dentists. Methodology: A cross-sectional field study was conducted with 353 dentists from the city of Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil, using a semi-structured questionnaire. Data collection began only after approval by the Ethics Committee. Results: The results showed that, similar to previous research, the use of formal scales for diagnosing anxiety was infrequent. Although most participants acknowledged the importance of anxiety management, just over half reported using techniques aimed at controlling it or reducing its negative effects. Among the non-pharmacological strategies, conversation and music therapy stood out. Conclusion: These findings highlight the need for further research to understand the reasons behind the low adherence to anxiety control methods in dental practice, considering their potential benefits for both patients and professionals.
