Surgical removal of a traumatic fibroma located on the lateral edge of the tongue: case report

Objective: Is to present a case of surgical removal of a traumatic fibroma located on the direct lateral border of the tongue. Case report: A 33-year-old male patient, pheoderma, normosistemic, attended the dentistry clinic at Nilton Lins University complaining of the presence of a blister on the tongue. In the intraoral clinical examination, the absence of teeth 36 and 46 was observed, in addition to the presence of a nodular lesion located on the edge of the tongue on the right side, measuring approximately 2 cm in diameter, light pink in color, sessile base, fibrous consistency. Initially, surgical removal was performed, where the piece was dipped and sent to the Department of Pathology and Legal Medicine of the Federal University of Amazonas. Based on the clinical characteristics combined with the histopathological report, the lesion was diagnosed as reactive fibroepithelial hyperplasia. Conclusion: Therefore, surgical treatment was satisfactory, with good tissue repair in the affected area. The patient was instructed on the importance of rehabilitation with a prosthesis or implant so that no recurrence occurs, where the patient is followed up.
