Objective: To characterize facial trauma in women treated at a Brazilian public hospital. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted using secondary data from medical records of female patients with facial trauma treated at a Brazilian public hospital. Results: Traffic accidents were the most frequent cause of trauma (50.4%), followed by interpersonal violence (23.1%) and falls (17.1%). Among the types of maxillofacial trauma identified, fractures were the most common (86.3%), followed by traumatic soft tissue injuries (13.7%). Conclusion: Traffic accidents were the primary etiological factors. Brown-skinned women between 21 and 40 years old were the most affected, and the middle third of the face was the most affected region.
