The UPE Portal of Scientific Journals aims to integrate and make available the journals published at the institutional level, which are linked to the Education Units and Education and Health Units, guaranteeing free access to scientific information.

Its principles are the enhancement and democratization of scientific knowledge, as well as respect for what the Universal Declaration of Human Rights says, which grants everyone the right to participate in the scientific process and enjoy the progress that results from it.

The UPE Journals Portal uses the Open Journal System (OJS) tool, free software for managing academic journals, recommended by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES).

Created in 2023, it is an initiative of the Library and Documentation Management Nucleus (NBID), in partnership with the Deans of Undergraduate Studies (PROGRAD), Graduate Studies, Research and Innovation (PROPEGI), and Extension and Culture (PROEC ), Education Units and Education and Health Units of the Hospital Complex, in addition to the support of the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DTIC), of the UPE.
