About the Journal
SUMMARY
The Revista Formação (ISSN 3085-5721) is an open-access electronic journal, with continuous publication and an annual frequency, affiliated with the Graduate Program in Education at the University of Pernambuco (UPE), Mata Norte Campus. Submissions of original and unpublished manuscripts are accepted on a rolling basis for different sections.
The journal publishes texts in the broad field of Education, with particular interest in the following thematic subareas: teacher education; management and public policies; language studies; history and historiography of education; teaching of Geography, Portuguese Language, additional languages, and Brazilian Sign Language (Libras); social movements; pedagogical practices; and interdisciplinary studies. Its mission is to publish peer-reviewed scientific work from researchers, regardless of their institutional affiliation, valuing geographic and institutional diversity, in order to promote the development and democratization of open science and the dissemination of the topics addressed. Its target audience consists of students, teachers, researchers, and readers interested in the broad educational debate.
The Revista Formação does not charge submission or processing fees (APC) and its content is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license.

FOCUS AND SCOPE
The journal accepts, on a rolling basis, the submission of scientific papers on topics related to the broad field of Education, with particular interest in the following thematic subareas: teacher education; management and public policies; language studies; history and historiography of education; teaching of Geography, Portuguese Language, additional languages, and Libras; social movements; pedagogical practices; and interdisciplinary studies.
The texts may be written in Portuguese, Spanish, English, or French and must be original and unpublished. Exceptions to the originality criterion are translations of articles previously published in other journals, not yet available in Portuguese. Submissions must fit into one of the following sections: original article; research report; book review; thesis and dissertation abstracts; thematic dossier; translation; interview.
As a reference publication, linked to a graduate program, Revista Formação requires a minimum of a Master's degree for authors interested in submitting manuscripts. In cases of collective authorship (where applicable, a maximum of four authors per text is accepted), at least one of the authors must hold the required degree. Submissions are accepted from authors regardless of their institutional and geographic affiliations, with a focus on diversity.
Revista Formação does not accept simultaneous submissions to another journal, as it believes that such practice unduly occupies the work of editorial teams and reviewers. Manuscripts published in preprint repositories are accepted.
FREQUENCY
The journal is published annually, with continuous publication.
MINIMUM DEGREE
As a reference publication in the field, the journal requires a minimum of a Master's degree for authors interested in submitting articles. In the case of collective authorship, applicable to some sections of the journal, at least one of the authors must have the required degree.
IDELOGICAL RESPONSIBILITY
The texts published express the views of the authors and do not, therefore, represent the official position of Revista Formação, which will only be expressed in institutional documents and its editorial policies.
OPEN ACCESS POLICY
Revista Formação is an open-access publication and, thus, offers free access to its content. The journal provides full-text articles in PDF format, with no charges for access and/or download, promoting the democratization of scientific knowledge. No registration is required to read the journal's texts.
NO PUBLICATION FEES (APC) AND FUNDING
In line with Open Access policies, Revista Formação does not charge any fees for the submission, evaluation, or publication of the texts it publishes. Thus, no fee request will be sent by email, phone, social media, or any other means. If you receive any charge in this regard, please report it to the journal at revista.formacao@upe.br, as it is a scam. The publication is maintained by the Graduate Program in Education at the University of Pernambuco (UPE), Mata Norte Campus.
COPYRIGHT STATEMENT AND LICENSING
Through the Final Acceptance Letter, authors authorize the publication of their text in Revista Formação under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. Thus, authors retain the copyright of their work, and the content may be freely distributed, reproduced, and adapted by them or third parties, at no cost, provided that the original publication of the journal is properly cited – with full reference and URL.
PREPRINT POLICY
Revista Formação has the following preprint deposition policy: aligned with the criteria of the Open Science movement, the journal allows authors submitting to the journal to deposit preprints at all stages of the editorial process: pre-evaluation version, accepted version for publication, and final version, available in the journal’s table of contents. In the case of depositing the final version, authors must always provide the DOI of the journal's official publication.
PRIVACY POLICY
The data provided in the system of this journal by its users will be exclusively used for the services provided by this journal, including publication and dissemination in related platforms, such as indexers. Any sensitive data provided will not be made available to third parties or for any other purposes and will be handled responsibly, in accordance with the General Data Protection Law (Law No. 13,853/2019).
Data about authors (name, email, institutional affiliation, and mini-curriculum, profiles on online curricula such as Lattes, Orcid, and others) published in articles are available for derivative uses in accordance with the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licensing policy. This allows the free distribution of articles, which can be cited or directly reproduced in any platform, as long as proper credit is given to the original source through citations. According to this policy, articles are disseminated through various media: indexers and databases, social media, newsletters, and related platforms.
ARCHIVING
Since its full content is published electronically in the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, managed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP) consortium, Revista Formação uses the platform's archiving system, the PKP Preservation Network. This ensures the secure preservation of its content, following recognized best practices in archiving. Learn more about how this service works.
